Arbor Day Program - McAlister Intermediate School
Entails giving each fourth grade student in the Suffield schools a sapling tree including a presentation concerning planting and caring for the young trees.
Civic Beautification
Consists of maintenance of town gardens at the Civil War Soldiers' Monument, the gazebo on the Town Green, the historical marker in front of Kent Memorial Library and the Bridge Street island.
Dogwoods
We maintain over 130 dogwood trees within the town center including fertilization and mulching as well as watering and replacement if needed.
Garden Therapy
Focuses on working with the elderly and handicapped to assist them in designing floral arrangements for the nursing home cafeteria and individual patient rooms.
Gateway Signs
Members oversee the maintenance of the plantings at five of the town gateway signs.
Juniors
This junior gardener program is open to Suffield fourth graders who are interested in gardening and the environment. Members work with the students in areas which include plant study, flower arranging and environmental issues.
Library Flowers
Each week throughout the year, a member is responsible for placing a display of their choice in the Kent Memorial Library.
May Market
A major fund-raiser and community event, includes flowers from our local high schools Agriscience students, members' gardens and local nurseries; member's baked items; attic treasures; a teacup drawing and more.
Phelps-Hatheway House Garden
Located on the south lawn of the museum property, owned by the Connecticut Antiquarian and Landmarks Society, this prestigious garden is one of our oldest devotions. Our members plant, mulch, weed and maintain the historic gardens.
Posies-to-Go
Mini exhibits entered during the month of February will be given to Suffield residents who are house-bound.
South Main Street Island
We have designed, replanted, and maintain this island.
