At each of our regular meetings, we enjoy refreshments, take care of club business, and learn from each other (see Mini Exhibits at right) as well as a program speaker. A variety of topics are covered throughout the year.
Regular monthly meetings are held the first Monday of each month October - May (except January) beginning at 11:45 a.m. The annual meeting in June is held off-site and is for members only.
A selection of gardening materials including books, gloves, oasis and other items are offered for purchase to members and guests at our meetings.

Club
members gather for an afternoon of camaraderie and celebration featuring hors d'oeuvres and cocktails (cash bar) followed by a luncheon. We present some
members with awards and recognize others for their years of service. We also elect new officers.
The location of the annual meeting is off site and may vary from year to year. Details are announced once finalized.

Guests are welcome at monthly meetings up to three times per year. Fee per visit, $5. December guest fee, $10.

The White House to Your House
with Ruth Loiseau
Ruth Loiseau is a master floral designer, an accomplished lecturer in the Art of Floral Design, and owner of Ruth L. She has worked within several White House Administrations and remains employed by The White House Flower Shop for special events for the Obama Administration. We will view a slide presentation of White House events while Ruth assembles a variety of arrangements suitable for the home. Arrangements will be raffled following the program.
NOVEMBER 2 (Bring a non-perishable food item for Suffield Emergency Aid.)
with John & Mary Warchol and Denise Lemay
The Warchols and Denise Lemay own and operate Stockbridge Farm in South Deerfield, Mass., where their major crops are lavender and basil. They will discuss growing and using lavender and demonstrate using lavender in various culinary preparations. Yes, there will be tasting samples for everyone! They will also show us products created from lavender and talk about how they are made.
DECEMBER 7
with Bob Whitney
Bob Whitney has been in the floral industry for 31 years, is a 21-year member of the American Institute of Floral Designers (AFID) and has experience in retail, wholesale and educational aspects of the floral industry. Bob has instructed in floral design at several area venues and presented numerous design programs for area Garden Clubs. He is going to dazzle us with his holiday designs! Arrangements will be raffled off after the program.

Designing a Better Garden: Secrets of the Pros
with Rita Bond
Rita Bond has been a landscape designer concentrating on residential design, a lecturer, and a teacher of gardening courses for more than 10 years. Among her designs are the gardens for the Connecticut Children's Medical Center in Hartford. her presentation describes the tenets of good garden design with an emphasis on residential gardening.

Rock Gardens: Styles & Strategies
with Bruce & Anne Aune
The Aunes are both Master Gardeners who live and garden in Montague Center, Mass. Bruce is Emeritus Professor of Philosophy at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and lecturer on philosophical subjects in addition to gardening topics. Anne is a lecturer on rock gardening and a former French teacher. They will dazzle you with their knowledge and incredible slide collection of rock gardens. Get inspired!

Sustainable & Organic Land Care
with Bill Duesing
For over 35 years, organic farmer, author and environmental activist Bill Duesing has been working to promote organic agriculture and greater local food sufficiency in Connecticut and the Northeast through lectures, writings, media and community work. Bill is currently the executive director of Northeast Organic Farming Association of Connecticut (CTNOFA). He will speak to us about sustainable gardening and maintaining our properties organically.

Our Conservation Committee will present startling information on the dangers of exposure to toxic chemicals in many household cleaning products and criteria for choosing healthier alternatives. You will receive recipes for making your own products, valuable lists of resources as well as have an opportunity to mix up a bottle of all-purpose cleaner to take home. Think Green!
